ET TU, BRUTE?
Heavy Duty: Put "Brutus" to work on your heavy gauge stampings.

Rockford Toolcraft, Inc. (Rockford, IL) announces the debut of its new 4,400-ton Verson tandem transfer press, "Brutus," which is now fully operational. The giant press is designed for producing heavy gauge stampings and features a bed area of 6 ft x 27 ft.

Capable of handling coil stock up to ˝ in thick and 60 in wide, the press line is totally automated from coil entry to finished part, according to president Jerry Busse, and is supported by a 60-person modern tool room with 10 skilled die designers using 3D CAD design and state-of-the-art AutoFormŽ forming simulation software.

"Brutus" is currently making heavy truck chassis cross members and is available for additional contract work. "We like to take on the complicated parts that most shops won't touch," says Mr. Busse. "Our expertise in tooling and engineering has created many value-added, in-press type operations that reduce labor costs for our customers." Busse added that Rockford Toolcraft not only designs high-quality progressive and transfer dies, but it can also assist with product design and production of prototype parts. Tool and die design, build and maintenance services are also available to other manufacturers or job shops.

Rockford Toolcraft is a 230-person operation with 275,000 sq ft of production space between its two modern plants in Rockford. The firm has specialized in the design and production of stamping dies and running production metal stampings and assemblies since 1976.
