Jergens offers its Spinner-Grip flange lock nut, available in 18/8 stainless steel to resist corrosion in harsh environments. The nut is designed to allow a free-spinning installation that eliminates the need to wrench the nut down the bolt. In addition, it locks to the base part, not the bolt threads, providing better tensile strength to hold the entire fastener assembly (bolt, part, and nut), making them particularly effective in high-vibration applications, the company says. Specific applications include material-handling equipment, medical equipment, vibratory applications, and hard-to-reach fastening areas. The all-stainless steel locking nut is also ideal for environments in which wide variances in temperatures and harsh environmental conditions are likely.
